Group Assistant Accountant - VR/31017
A well-established specialist in the oil and gas sector is seeking a Group Assistant Accountant to provide maternity cover for a period of 12 months. In this role, you will play a key part in contributing to a global business, gaining valuable experience in different areas of finance.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Maintaining purchase orders for different departments.
- Preparing supporting documentation for manual payments related to UK and corporate overhead departments.
- Tracking and managing work-in-progress and stock control accounts in the system, ensuring all balances are cleared before month-end.
- Processing UK payroll and ensuring payroll control accounts are accurately reconciled.
- Overseeing the preparation and submission of budgets and forecasts in line with deadlines.
- Preparing intercompany reports and actively following up to ensure accounts are balanced and reconciled on a regular basis.
- Maintaining reporting for Group CAR and UK fixed asset registers.
- Supporting the year-end process and the preparation of statutory returns.
Applicants to this role require
- A well-rounded understanding of finance, and experience of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong IT skills and proficiency in Excel, amongst other Microsoft systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environments, whilst being able to able to adapt to change.
- Ability to work under pressure, maintaining strong standards.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Part qualified/qualified by experience advantageous.
