Permanent opportunity available to join forward-thinking energy services business. As Accountant, you’ll take ownership of management accounts and play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement across the department. You’ll be responsible for motivating and guiding a small, dedicated team, with direct oversight of 2 Assistant Management Accountants and a Treasurer.

    

This is a highly visible role, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. Based at the company’s headquarters in Aberdeen, the position offers hybrid working after the successful completion of a probationary period.

            

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the month-end process across multiple business units, including preparing and reviewing management accounts.
  • Managing treasury operations, including banking, cash flow forecasting, and analysis.
  • Ensuring company compliance with tax and payroll regulations.
  • Providing meaningful insight into variances and sales margins, supporting commercial decisions.
  • Assisting with the annual audit process and participating in projects aimed at improving systems, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Coaching and mentoring the team to ensure timely, accurate delivery of financial information.

       

The ideal applicant will:

  • Be a fully qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 5–10 years’ experience in a finance team, ideally within an oil & gas or energy setting.
  • Have demonstrable experience leading or supervising a team in a fast-paced finance function.
  • Be confident in their ability to analyse variances, drive improvements, and influence wider business performance.
  • Offer strong Excel skills and an ability to bring efficiency to established processes.
  • Be a natural motivator with a clear sense of ownership and accountability.
